Honey to the Beatnik, this bookshop attracts anyone with a free mind. Selling an amazing collection of arts, politics and World literature this is the place to go when you want to avoid the 3 for £10 deals and find something different. It has a long history of producing its own counter culture both in print and the spoken word and is a haven for those with ‘alternative’ views. It regularly houses events and readings and champions many writers – big time or small.
I could have browsed the shelves for hours, so many interesting books. No wonder this place is on the ‘greatest bookshops in the World’ list https://www.lonelyplanet.com/travel-tips-and-articles/76233.
We left (eventually) much wiser with significantly less money…
Purchases included a graphic novel on ‘The Beats’, a wonderful Mars Attacks comic book, a book about pre-Comic Code comic strips and the latest Chomsky of course.
Is City Lights a bookshop run by people that love books?
This is a bookstore that’s very foundations is made of books!
